On Monday 27th January the Targeting Talent event will take place in a bid to engage with local business and seek their support for a programme for the community. This will assist Birchfield Harriers, as we look for the next generation of Athletics Talent, from within and around Birmingham.
The event will be hosted by 2004 Olympian Katharine Merry, with Birchfield Harriers Club Chair Andy Paul making a short presentation on the project. We would like the invited to help financially support the programme which would look to work in schools, mentor talent, educate teachers and develop coaches that can bring the best out of the talent pool that clearly exists.
In brief the outlined programme would put Club Coaches in school and be supported by an Elite Athlete as mentors to the talent pool and school staff. The work would compliment our existing work with the AGA Academy but be focused on talent nurture rather than a broader engagement of youngsters.
The evening is short and sharp event with light refreshments being served. Smart casual attire is fine. This will take place in the Club Room (Birmingham Alexander Stadium, Stadium Way, Perry Barr, Birmingham, B42 2LR). If you would like to join us please contact our Commercial Officer (Cath Muth) via the club office Tel: +44 (0)121 344 4858 Email: firstname.lastname@example.org.
