On 16 October 2016 Will Richardson (coached by Peter Stewart) was the third British athlete to finish in the Great Birmingham Run Half Marathon in a time of 69:20 – only beaten by senior international athletes.
This was a fantastic performance from the 18 year old in only his second ever race over this distance, having competed in the Birmingham Great Run last year. However, he remains committed to the track and cross country and has no plans to move to the road in the near future and was using the half marathon as part of his training.
With European and World Cross Country championships coming up in the winter, followed by the European U20 Championships in Italy next year Will is working hard to gain selection for Team GB at these events. He will face tough competition, in an age group which is very strong, but his work ethic means he has an excellent chance of success.
