At the European Indoor Athletics Championships held in Belgrade, Serbia, our sole representative Sarah McDonald finished 2nd in her heat on Friday, 3 March 2017 and qualified for the final in a time of 4:12.50. On Saturday, 4 March 2017, in the final she finished a creditable 6th in a time of 4:13.67 which was won by Laura Muir of Great Britain.
We had six representatives in the above event. In 60 metres hurdles U18 women, Anya Bates won the event in a personal best time of 8.57. Daniel Cartwright threw the shot 17.38 and won U20 men event. In the U23 women’s event, Adele Nicoll also won the event with a throw of 16.09 which is seasons best. In senior women 3000 metres Julian Cook won in a time of 9:54.65 which was a season best.In senior women pole vault, Sally Peake cleared a height of 4.26, same height as the eventual winner but finished second on count back. It was a seasons best for Sally. Finally in the senior women triple jump Abazz Shayam-Smith (U20) finished 4th with a jump of 11.40.

In the above event, Pierce Campbell-Drummond run a personal best time of 7.42 in 60 metres U23 Men. In the women’s 60 metres race Michell Thomas V45 recorded a time of 8.28.
