What started out as a wet damp day, stayed that way, but it did not dampen the spirits of the 166 runners who entered this years run. Numbers were up from last years 147 entries.

The new altered course took in more of the picturesque trail, which was met with approval from all. The course was muddy and slippery in places but on the whole ideal for a trail run.

The usual ample spot prizes and free tea, coffee, fruit and water went down well.

Harry Fry from the Royal British Legion started the race this year.  The field soon spread out on the opening lap with Birchfield and Tipton battling for the first 3 mens places.

The women also had a great battle with Rolls Royce, Birchfield and Stafford Harriers vying for the top 3 places.

We had great support from local running club Aldridge A.C. who put this race on their G.P. as well as other local clubs.

All marshalls, runners and helpers did a fantastic job of promoting a great image of Birchfield Harriers as being a well organised and friendly running/athletics club.

Yet again we have raised money for a good cause close to many of our hearts.

Hopefully the run will continue to grow over the next few years, now just being called the Poppy Run by many runners means that its getting its own identity in the running circles.
