Fian Sweeney took part in the Irish Life Health National Senior and Even Age Cross Country Championships held at Abbotstown, Ireland on Sunday, 26 November 2017 and finished second in U20 race, thus almost certainly will be selected to represent Ireland at the European Cross Country Championship next month in Samorin, Slovakia.
