Without volunteers, Birchfield Harriers and the sport of athletics would not be able to function as it does today. Many roles are available within the club which use a variety of skills. Do not think that your expertise will not be required please ask and we will point you in the right direction.
“I became a coach after my daughter joined the Club. I wanted to understand more about her training and was interested in helping out. I have had great support from a number of other coaches in the club and would recommend anyone to give it a go.”Cath Muth, Endurance Coach
Whilst experience of athletics may help in some roles, it is not essential. If you can use your skills to support and develop the club, you will find that your contribution is much appreciated.
We do not ask you to commit to a set number of hours and many of the roles are on an ad hoc basis.
Some of the ways in which you can help are: Athlete Coaching, Track and Field Officiating, Event Participation, Club Support.
“I have always loved sport but was never going to a great athlete. By helping out and then becoming a qualified official I have been on a fantastic journey culminating in officiating at the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, I have met some great people along the way, at all levels of the sport, and would encourage anybody to get involved.”Stuart Paul, Volunteer
